Stop the presses — the CW has found its young Carrie Bradshaw to star in the doomed upcoming Sex and the City prequel, The Carrie Diaries. The young woman in question is best known for her appearances in such classics as “Soul Surfer” and “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” and she is…AnnaSophia Robb.

Wah-wah. Sorry, there’s just no way to make that news interesting. There just isn’t. Because the show isn’t going to be interesting. Instead, it represents yet another attempt to bank off of regurgitating an idea that was once genuinely innovative and good — like the “90210” remake, or the blessedly short-lived “Melrose Place” remake. I just wish that TV networks would stop punishing us, the viewers, for the fact that an Aaron Spelling or a Darren Star rolls around only once a decade or so.

We haven’t done anything wrong.
