Last Friday, Rebecca Taylor showed a wearable, watery collection featuring dewy skin and slicked-back hair. Yes, there were sequins and metallics, but the whole thing was so soft and muted… a few of the final looks even had an echo of Rodarte’s wheatfields in lovely cloud prints.
I know “wearable” sounds like faint praise but as I watched this look come down the runway, all I could think was, “How can I go home and do this immediately?” The rich color and relaxed, flowing shape of the trouser set off by the insanely sexy wide-knit and topped with a boyish jacket? This is a fantastic example of masculine/feminine: it’s soft, it’s tough, it’s supremely wearable. Let’s look at it closer:
