Remember that time Alexander Wang teased his new spring campaign and I all but lost my damn mind? Well, those Polaroids have led to something big: the Wangsquad campaign has finally launched, and in true Wang fashion, it’s chic, vaguely hipster, and almost too cool.
Before he actually released the photos to the public, Wang released this trailer for the campaign:
The video, which is essentially a fast-playing montage of the entire campaign, credits every featured model in the caption. While they all epitomize the general feel of the fashion house, some of the more notable names include 2015’s Model of the Year Anna Ewers, musician Travis Scott, literal Cindy Crawford mini-me Kaia Gerber, and Wang’s resident bad girl and new muse Lexi Boling.
The photos, all of which spread out over the Wangsquad Instagram, Alexander Wang’s website, and the personal Instagram accounts of many of the featured models, have a Polaroid-like quality to them, making the manner in which Wang teased the campaign in the first place all the more appropriate. Some photos feature the models interacting with each other (think kissing, drinking, hanging out in trunks of cars—you know, normal model things), while others are head-on. A few of them appear to have been shot in the homes of some of the models, too. Check out some of my favorites below:
Somehow I feel like if I had happened upon this scene while it was being shot, I don’t think I would have realized it was for a fashion campaign. Because what else can you expect when you go to Greenpoint in Brooklyn?
I aspire to look this effortlessly cool while shoving food into my face. Instead I just look like a ravenous baby hippo.
Someone please send me that leather bustier crop top. I need it so I can wear it under all of my clothes every day for the rest of my life.
