Here’s Salma Hayek at the Prometheus premiere. I’m not saying that the actress looks bad. I’m not sure it’s possible for her to look bad. But she doesn’t exactly look magnificent either. The matching shoes and purse bug me. The bedazzled nature of her dress is completely expected. The hot-pink lipstick with a lavender dress kind of reminds me of a Barbie I had in the 90s.
She doesn’t look awful by any stretch of the imagination. This is a stunning woman. But it’s also the woman whose married to François-Henri Pinault. In case you forgot, he’s the CEO of PPR. PPR is the company that owns Gucci, Yves St. Laurent, Stella McCartney and Alexander McQueen. Just to name a few of their luxury brands. There are more.
So everytime I see Salma Hayek on a red carpet with a dress that looks a little behind the times, a little predictable, I can’t help but think about all the other amazing options this woman had to choose from. There’s just so much amazing fashion at her fingertips and she picked a purple dress with a bow made of sparkles. Seriously?
And this isn’t just a one-time thing. If you need more proof, look at her biggest red carpet moment in Cannes. It’s a sexed up prom dress. And it has matching prom hair.
What do you think? Am I picking on Salma or is it fair to expect more from a woman who has to have an endless supply of amazing things to choose from?
