Unique Awards Season LooksThere are so many gorgeous dresses that deserve to be seen on this awards season red carpet. However, there are a lot of other, more unexpected looks that work just as well. Dresses are traditional, but a jumpsuit, menswear suit or some cool new hybrid can turn heads. Pants and jumpsuit looks aren’t totally unexpected on your average red carpet, but they are rare during awards season. Ditto for short dresses. That’s why when someone wears one, they have the potential to make a huge impact, if they are done well.

The BAFTAs are just as fancy as any Hollywood red carpet. They are just colder. It was a surprise to see Angelina Jolie show up in this suit, but she worked it as well as any gown. It’s effortless and it was even better because she coordinated with Brad Pitt.

Diane Kruger isn’t afraid to take fashion risks. At the Met Gala, pretty much anything goes. That being said, it was still surprising to see Diane pick this longline top with sheer embroidered pants with scarf detail for the China: Through the Looking Glass red carpet.

We can always count on Kristen Stewart to deliver something amazing on the red carpet. At Cannes, she worked a sparkly jumpsuit with visible roots. The look was even better when she switched into coordinating sneakers later.

5. Emma Stone, SAG Awards 201521st Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards

This look was all that people could talk about at last year’s SAG Awards. Emma Stone stole the show. Period. The outfit can’t really be called a dress because there is an obvious blazer in the look. It’s a new skirt-blazer hybrid. People may not have been sure what to call it, but one thing is for sure, everyone loved it.

There is technically part of a dress here, but how many people have worn dresses with open backs that expose a pair of pants? That is why it makes it onto the list. Emma’s outfit showed how you can take something traditional and totally spin it around.

9.  Rose Byrne, SAG Awards 2012137813882JK580_18th_Annual_The SAG Awards are another more casual red carpet so it is the perfect opportunity for celebs to try different shapes and silhouettes. Rose Byrne did just that with her sparkly white jumpsuit. Note the subtle wrap detail over the belt.

10. Sophie Turner, Emmys 2016Sophie-Turner-Emmys

Game of Thrones‘ Sophie Turner is a celeb you should be watching on the red carpet. She took a risk at the 2016 Emmys with this colorblocked jumpsuit. It’s a young and fresh look.
