September covers get all the press: it’s that time of year when we eagerly await the fashion industry’s forecasting for the Fall season. Anna Wintour gave us Lady Gaga in magenta Marc Jacobs, while Emmanuelle Alt over at French Vogue was into noir with a trio of supermodels. The downtown kids at Dazed & Confused, however, were feeling controversial. We learned last week that the September cover of Dazed was banned from newsstands in seven countries… before we even saw what it was.

Turns out, fashion’s current musical darling (sorry, Florence WelchAzealia Banks and a visual pun involving condoms was too much for the newsstand-going public:

That’s Banks in a Balmain jacket smoking (er, blowing up) a condom. Sharif Hamza shot the rapper in looks by Lanvin (top image), Chanel and Givenchy, with styling by Karen Langley.

It’s a shame that some people find the sight of a condom so offensive, because Banks is working that eyeshadow.
