The 2015 Emmy Awards are this Sunday and everyone is curious to see who will win an award but we’re also looking forward to see what the celebs will be wearing on the red carpet. There will definitely be some amazing dresses but everyone is hoping for those magical looks that transcend yearly best and worst-dressed lists and get talked about long after they’ve been seen on the red carpet. Sometimes you remember them because they are so fabulous, other times it is for different reasons. Either way, they are never going to be forgotten.
Take a look at 13 Emmy Awards looks that we will never forget:
Kerry Washington isn’t one to play it safe on the red carpet which is why she has given us many standout looks. This orange Prada gown was a simple shape but the bold color mixed with the contrasting trim and peekaboo panel made it one of the most talked about looks.
2. Gwyneth Paltrow, 2011
We’re used to seeing at least seven celebrities show up wearing crop tops on the red carpet but when Gwyneth Paltrow showed up at the 2011 Emmy Awards in this Pucci lace crop top and skirt, people were shocked. It was different and sexy and just the start of our obsession.
Sarah Jessica Parker loves to make style statements. (Remember the flaming hat?) This look featured a feathered tutu, complete with massive floral arm cuff. It wasn’t just one of the most memorable Emmys outfits, it was one of SJP’s most memorable looks. And she has done a lot of red carpets.
It’s not every day that you call someone wearing Chanel Haute Couture “effortless” but Jennifer Aniston was the definition of easy style at the 2004 Emmys. Everyone looked at her bedhead hair and embellished gown and thought there is no need for the gobstopper jewels, sculptural updo and gigantic train.
Calista Flockhart‘s white blouse and gold skirt are still debated about today. Some have always dismissed the look as too casual for the awards show while others love the contrast of the skirt paired with the tied white shirt. Whatever your stance, you still remember it over 15 years on.

This shimmering Atelier Versace gown was all it took to cement January Jones‘ fashion icon status. Even those who vehemently hate mullet dresses had to admit that this one was stunning. All the parts worked so well from the color to the texture to the silhouette.
You may not have known who exactly Victoria Powell was before but the world knew after she turned up in this dress with President Obama‘s face on it at the 2009 Emmys. How many gowns have featured presidents’ faces on them?
Jennifer Aniston makes it onto the list again for her appearance in 1999 with Brad Pitt. It’s not just memorable because they were the real life Barbie and Ken couple at the time. It’s unforgettable because Jennifer is wearing an embellished gold top with plain black skirt and rocking faux dreadlocks in her hair.
Blake Lively‘s red Versace gown is one of the sexiest looks to ever grace the Emmys red carpet. You may not have expected it to make such a statement considering it is relatively simple and it is almost the exact same shade of red as the carpet but it was the easiness of it that captivated people.
Okay, a lot of people remember Christina Hendrinks‘ dusty lilac Zac Posen dress because of her cleavage but it was the fit of the dress that made it look so good, which is why it still makes it onto the list. The dress was tailored to perfection and the color isn’t something we see on the carpet a lot.
Love is or loathe it, Lena Dunham‘s floral Prada dress is something that you’re going to remember for a long time. The full skirt combined with the teal fabric with falling roses was an eye-catching look. You’d never call it wallflower fashion.
When someone wears a sparkly breastplate on the red carpet and makes it look flawless, you’re not going to forget the moment. Anna Paquin‘s black Alexander McQueen gown wasn’t your basic LBD thaks to that detail. The embellished chest highlighted her face and added just the right amount of edge to the carpet.
Sarah Paulson only wore this tulle dress to last year’s awards but you knew it was something that you’d be remembering for years after you saw it. You may not remember it for all positive reasons but at least you can say that it was a unique style we have never seen before.
