It was just over two months ago that former Gossip singer Beth Ditto announced that she was working on a plus-size clothing collection. Instead of just making a regular Instagram or Twitter announcement, Beth revealed she was working on her own line by collaborating with Jean Paul Gaultier on a t-shirt. The corset t-shirt with lace-up back made us even more excited for the line to come. We wanted more. Now, Beth’s line has finally dropped, and you will not be disappointed.
Beth has been a style icon for many women and her clothing line lives up to expectations. Even the lookbook will serve as major style inspiration. Beth models the clothes along with Barbie Ferreira and Philomena Kwao. Plus, it has been styled by Love Editor-in-Chief and stylist extraordinaire, Katie Grand.
Beth explains on her website that her clothes aren’t the sort of pieces that you will wear for this summer then toss them. They are things you will have in your wardrobe for years to come. She says:
“I wanted to make pieces to last years. Beyond trends, beyond chain stores. I wanted to create something all its own, something just for us, made with love and consideration.”
Beth has used her years of experience fashioning her own outfits out of vintage finds and tweaking looks to create her line. She wanted to give curvy girls clothes had the same high quality fabrics and superior craftsmanship that are available for others, so all the clothes are made ethically in the USA with beautiful fabrics.
Beth’s love of vintage is evident in the Spring/Summer 2016 collection. There are lots of printed dresses and jumpsuits. The line also includes skirts, jackets and shirts. There is also a good mix of fun pieces and wear-everyday basics. See the summerweight black leggings. (Genius, right?)
Take a look at a few pieces from the line:
This retro dress is made out of 100% silk, so you will never want to take it off. The elastic hem lets you wear it knee-length or shorter with a flounce.
What’s better than red lipstick prints? Yellow, red and orange ones. This top would look cute with or without a belt.
These clever black leggings are great if you want to wear leggings all year. They are made out of a stretchy rayon. The fabric is breathable but you do not have to worry about the leggings going see-through when stretched.
Here’s a great evening option. Trade your dress for this sheer and shiny jumpsuit. It is pretty and versatile thanks to the concealed pockets.
The prices from the Spring/Summer 2016 collection range from $65 for a t-shirt to $395 for a jumpsuit. Most pieces are available in sizes 1X to 3X. If you’re looking to get your hands on the items, the collection is available now on Beth’s website. It is never too early to start shopping for your spring wardrobe.
