The 2013 Cannes Film Festival began yesterday–kicking off with Baz Luhrmann‘s take on The Great Gatsby. Here is the celebrity-laden red carpet, featuring the film’s stars, various fellow A-Listers, a slew of fancy Euro-celebs and at least one Phoebe Price (obviously).
Julianne Moore always looks terrific, doesn’t she?
Zhang Ziyi wore Raf Simmons’ Dior. We don’t understand the shoe/earring decision here.
Paz Vega wore glittery netting over a beige romper.
Nicole Kidman. This feels like too much, yes? Maybe if the hair weren’t so tall.
Naomie Harris. So much shimmery stuff at Cannes already.
Lorie is a French popstar. We strongly dislike her dress. Her ridiculous music, however, the office has really been into.
Lana Del Rey went really over the top.
Lady Victoria Hervey. Oh, you. This is very Childlike Empress goes to Coachella.
Anyone who says redheads should avoid red needs to see Isla Fisher.
Carey Mulligan and a bunch of top models ahead…
Ines de la Fressange. Elegant as always, though we don’t love the look.
Hayley Roberts and David Hasselhoff. Yeah.
Georgia May Jagger. We are staunchly anti-cutout, but that lipstick!
We wanted Freida Pinto‘s showstopping Gucci to be more… showstopping. Somehow, this doesn’t feel quite right.
Fan Bing Bing also wore pink.
Eva Cavalli. Too many busy little details here.
Cindy Crawford‘s neckline is odd.
Carey Mulligan struck all the apparent Cannes boxes: pale pink, simple makeup anchored by a fire engine red lip and unfussy hair.
Here she is with Baz Luhrmann.
Cara Delevingne. Too much everything.
Speaking of too much everything, we’ve reached the shameless fameball portion of our post. Starting with Bai Ling.
…And ending on Queen Phoebe Price.
