When she’s not posting her hickeys on Instagram or posing with Pharrell as an empress, Cara Delevingne is a real model with real model-y things to do, such as attending the 2014 British Fashion Awards. But because she is not just a regular model but a cool model, she has to attend the after party wearing nipple pasties–this is simply what cool models do, after all.
Here’s a closer look at the gemmed nipple action going on up top, including what looks like a painful healing bruise.
If this looks familiar, it’s because the dress was part of Tom Ford‘s Spring 2015 Collection from London Fashion Week. We talked about it earlier this year and, to be honest, were more fond of them then than now.
Does anybody like this look? Am I the only person who finds it patently awful? In all honesty, I do not hate the sparkly nipple aspect! After all, pasties–like all other clothing items and accessories–can range between being totally wonderful (ex.: Cher‘s sparkly heart pasties) to creepy (ex.: Lily Allen‘s Barbie-esque silicone pasties) to totally outrageous (ex.: Miley Cyrus‘s ice cream pasties).
The problem I have with Cara’s look is that it fits very poorly, which is insane considering we all know that most WTF designer styles look best on models, but even Cara can’t pull this off in a real-life setting. Instead of looking sexy with a dose of edgy glam, it looks like a teenage Hot Topic employee went on Pinterest to create a mall goth version of Baby Spice’s trademark dress. Plus, anything that shows your bellybutton unintentionally because it’s so tight needs to go. On the bright side, Cara looked great while accepting her award for Model of the Year:
This Burberry number is much better, albeit still not so fantastic. I suppose this once again proves that just because you work in fashion doesn’t mean you’re necessarily good at fashion.
