I never would have thought to show off lower-middle under boob. Thankfully someone designed a dress so now I can, if I ever feel so inclined. Regular cleavage and the standard upper thigh slit have become a bit expected (though we still see a lot of them), so designers have grabbed their scissors to create new cutouts that show off body parts that I don’t even think have proper names. (What is the area called diagonally under your armpit?) And the trend doesn’t stop with clothing. Swimsuits are getting chopped and slashed to produce cutouts that will give you much stranger looking tanlines than a farmer’s tan.
Here are 15 celebrities who decided to show off seldom seen body parts with surprising cutouts:
There are many ways to show off your cleavage, but Karlie Kloss‘s triangular boob cutout is a new one. I wonder if her style twin BFF Taylor Swift is going to copy it?
2. Cara Delevingne
3. Irina Shayk
Irina Shayk has been known to wear some outrageous things–remember the hooded gown she wore to Cannes 2014? I cannot decide whether this dress is conservative because of the high neckline and one sleeve or scandalous because of the cutout and slit. It’s too Dr Jekyll/Mr Hyde.
Wow. Kim Kardashian‘s top/bra/zebra stripes is another piece of clothing that I don’t know the proper name of, or where you place your double-sided tape.
Sometimes we see a lot of the same old stuff on the red carpets. I guarantee we have never seen Emma Waston‘s diagonal V-neckline and triangular oblique cutout before.
7. Anna Kendrick
Instead of risking a wardrobe malfunction (note the placement of the diagonal skirt cutout), Anna Kendrick wisely decided to add lace panels to the cutouts. Good call.
Thankfully Beyoncé also decided to add sheer, embellished panels to her chest cutouts otherwise the only thing that would be preventing her from exposing a nipple would be a glittery strip of fabric.
I never would have expected to describe anything Miley Cyrus wore as demure, but this long sleeve dress is the most covered up thing we’ve seen her in since her Hannah Montana days–diamond butt-revealing cutouts and all.
If you need a way to show off your armpit cleavage, Ciara has found the perfect dress.
Jennifer Lopez shows that you can still wear a dress with a hole in it. Just cut the rip into a nice shape and add a sparkly sleeve. Tadddaaaaa, you have a new dress.
I sort of get Lucy Hale‘s asymmetric one-sleeved neckline, but I don’t really get the half skirt.
14. Kim Kardashian
It looks like Kim Kardashian has a thing for cutouts (see #4). I have no idea how this strapless dress is staying up considering there’s a massive keyhole in the front, complete with silver dangly trim. Kim must use one hell of a body tape.
15. Rumer WillisBased on the three boob t-shirt Rumer Willis wore, I would have guessed she was more of a top cutout type of girl, but this upper thigh exposing dress has proven me very wrong.
