Choupette Vogue cover

Choupette, the cat Karl Lagerfeld wishes he could marry, is a Vogue cover model now.

Karl Lagerfeld photographed his beloved Choupette for the cover of the July-August 2013 issue of German Vogue. To give Choupette something pretty and chic to sit on, supermodel Linda Evangelista was brought in to hold the world’s most fashionable cat. Magazines are always worried about whether actresses or models sell more copies, but we suspect the Choupette Vogue cover will be an instant collectors’ item when it comes out on Wednesday,

The first Vogue cover is a milestone for any model, and this one got Choupette a profile on, which seemed to only half please her.

“We simply must get me a better profile on your site! #ToDo” she Tweeted. The site promised to rectify the situation forthwith.

Choupette’s Twitter feed, authored by Lagerfeld, has more than 29,000 followers. She uses it to connect with fellow famous people and provide in-depth media criticism.

“Silly media taking everything so literally. Daddy loves his hyperboles!” she tweeted regarding Lagerfeld’s recently expressed desire to marry her.

She also had a comment about the upcoming book of Karl Lagerfeld’s wit and wisdom:

Daddy is coming to a coffee table near you in September! Hint: I won’t be far behind dahhhlings..

Is Choupette getting a book too? We might not be able to handle that.

Lagerfeld reports that she’s a very in-demand cat model, but that she’s very choosy about the types of projects with which she deigns to associate.

“Now, Choupette really is famous,” Lagerfeld once said in an interview with The Independent. “She has become the most famous cat in the world. I even get propositioned by pet food companies and things like that but it’s out of the question. I’m commercial. She’s not. She’s spoiled to death. Obviously.”
