A little while back, we learned that Christian Louboutin was plotting a pair of Cinderella-inspired glass slippers to coincide with the release of the Disney classic on Blue-Ray. Here are the important parts:

”The designer will put his own ‘magic touch’ on the shoes,” says WWD–which we take to mean “a red sole.” The shoes will be revealed this summer.

As for Christian Louboutin himself, he offers the usual spray of excitement at collaboration: “I have been so lucky to have crossed paths with Cinderella, an icon who is so emblematic to the shoe world as well as the dream world.”

Yesterday in Paris, Louboutin unveiled the shoe and… it looks like something only a Dinsey princess could love:

For practical reasons, the shoes aren’t actually made of glass. Rather, they were “inspired” by what a modern-day Cinderella would wear, which we guess means Blake Lively. To “evoke lightness” (but definitely not subtlety) Louboutin made the 120-millimeter heels out of white lace and  Swarovski crystals (which are like rich people ketchup, basically). Then he added some butterflies because butterflies are feminine and shit.

He also had a little more PR gushing to do:

“Cinderella is not only an iconic character when it comes to beauty, grace and fairytale love, but also shoes. Her character and her story dictated the design to me, it was all there in the pages and the words of this tale.”

So, there you have it. Louboutin’s Cinderella-inspired heels look like a slightly more infantile version of all his other heels.

At least someone can make a damn glass slipper.
