After waiting on line for more than an hour and not getting in to last season’s show, I was determined to see Christian Siriano’s Fall 2010 presentation on Friday.  My perseverance (and wearing Aerosoles boots) paid off.

The presentation was classic and chic, but surprisingly not that fierce.  Except for the show-stopper Organza Draped Bodice and Scalloped Tulle Gown in fuchsia (pictured above), most of Siriano’s fall collection comprised of city sophisticate, wearable separates (coats, jackets, trousers, and fitted dresses). These are glamourous clothes for grown-up gals that recalled the timeless elegance Halston and Carolina Herrera.

Siriano’s color palette was primarily black, grey/white, royal blue, and wine/fuchsia with a few metallic pieces thrown in for fun.  Of the separates, a cutting-edge black Crocodile Embossed Zip Front Jacket (pictured above) stood out.  Of the dresses, I loved the royal blue Silk Jersey Gathered Column Gown and could easily see it on Nicole Kidman or another lithe, A-list actress, and a royal blue Satin Faced Organza Multi-Flounced Cocktail Dress (pictured above) that would perfectly fit Zoe Saldana.

The models wore shoes from the Christian Siriano RTW Fall ’10 line for Payless, inspired by French women from the 1960s who weren’t afraid to dress ladylike every day.  “They wore suits, coats, gloves, a great bag, signature shoes,” the designer says in a press release, “culminating in an effortless, soft, and romantic style that could transcend day to evening.”
