Just days after 14-year-old Kaia Gerber‘s ads for Alexander Wang‘s spring campaign were released, she’s revealed an even higher honor: she and her mother, iconic supermodel Cindy Crawford, landed this month’s cover of Vogue Paris. And if you thought they looked alike before, just wait until you see this shot.
Shot by Mario Testino and styled by Vogue Paris’s editor-in-chief, Emmanuelle Alt, the cover is both worthy of the high-fashion mag and a spot on Crawford’s mantle:
You can practically feel how excited they both were to be shooting this major cover with one another. Kaia also shared the cover on her own Instagram, along with the caption,
“what is life?!! i honestly can’t breathe right now. a million thank you’s to @vogueparis and @mariotestino!!”
While this isn’t the first time Kaia and Cindy have been shot together (Fashionista reports that the two appeared together in an editorial in the September 2015 issue of Vogue and in a spread for The Thick), but this is a major cover, and for Kaia, it’s her first. This is bound to be a major milestone, and maybe an even bigger turning point, in her career as a model.
Kaia has already gotten a massive seal from Carine Roitfeld, fashion’s (and Gigi Hadid‘s) fairy godmother, when she scored a spot in a 2015 issue of CR Fashion Book. This new Vogue Paris cover, combined with her spot among the models-of-the-moment in Alexander Wang’s #wangsquad and her first-ever fashion campaign with Chrome Hearts, proves that she’s got some serious modeling chops. Who knows: maybe we’ll see her on the runway next Fashion Week.
