Cindy CrawfordThere are very few people who have had a modeling career like Cindy Crawford‘s. She was part of the 1990’s supermodel era, with Linda Evangelista, Naomi Campbell and Christy Turlington. It is a decade that people still wistfully recall and say that no other models have really been the same since. Furthermore, Cindy has had a career in the industry spanning 30 years (and counting). When a lot of models working today don’t last more than a few seasons, that is saying something. Cindy turns 50 today. While she does want to shift her career to focus more on business, she still isn’t ready to completely say goodbye to the modeling world. She clarified the press on her “retirement” with a post on Instagram stating that as long as there are opportunities, she cannot say no. Here’s to another 30 years of glamour.

Let’s take a look back at some of the highlights from Cindy Crawford’s modeling career in honor of her birthday:

1. First Vogue Cover, 1986Cindy Crawford Vogue August 1986

Cindy was a chemical engineering major at college before she dropped out to pursue modeling. Shortly after she scored her first American Vogue cover. Other international Vogue covers soon followed.

2. First British Vogue Cover, 1987Cindy Vogue 1987

Cindy’s 1987 British Vogue cover isn’t just memorable because it was her first one, it was also memorable because her trademark mole was removed in the image.

3. First Playboy Cover, 1988Cindy Crawfford Playbo

Going from Vogue to Playboy might have seemed surprising, but Cindy did it. This topless Playboy cover was her first, but it was not her last. She appeared on the magazine again 10 years later.

4. Signs Revlon Contract, 1989Cindy Crawford REvlon

One of the first things that comes to mind when we think about Cindy is her Revlon contract. Cindy is Revlon. Cindy had her contract with the beauty brand for an impressive 13 years until 2002.

1989 was a very good year for Cindy. In addition to snagging her Revlon contract, she also became the host of the MTV show House of Style. The show focused on fashion and models and Cindy had the opportunity to interview her fellow models at NYFW as well as at red carpet events.

6. The Start of the Supermodel Era, British Vogue, 1990Cindy Crawford 1990 Vogue

No one probably knew how big that this cover would be when we look back on it now. It featured all of the famous faces that came to define the decade including Cindy, Christy Turlington, Linda Evangelista, Naomi Campbell and Tatjana Patitz.

7. Appears in George Michael’s “Freedom! ’90” Video, 1990Cindy Crawford Freedom

If the magazine covers didn’t cement Cindy and her fellow models A-list status, George Michael’s “Freedom” video did. The six-and-a-half-minute video made history and featured all the Supers.

8. Appears in Pepsi Super Bowl Commercial, 1992Cindy Crawford Pepsi

Super Bowl commercials are always big deals, but Cindy’s 1992 Pepsi commercial was (and still is) iconic. It made everyone completely forget about Coke. This year, she parodied it with James Corden.

9. Stars in her first film Fair Game, 1995Cindy Crawford Fair Game

Now, it is common for celebs to branch out into different areas. Cindy tried to make the transition from modeling to acting with her role in the 1995 film Fair Game. She starred opposite Billy Baldwin in the action movie. Cindy played  Kate McQuean, a civil law attorney.

A few different celebs have posed naked on magazine covers while pregnant. Cindy did it back in 1999 when she was pregnant with her first child, Presley Walker Gerber. Fast forward 17 years later, and now he is a model.

Cindy had amassed numerous Vogue covers by this point, but it is still a big moment when you appear on the 100th anniversary issue of anything. She graced the cover with Christy Turlington, Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Niki Taylor, Elaine Irwin, Tajana Patitz and Yasmeen Ghauri.

12. Joins Taylor Swift’s Squad, 2015Cindy Crawford Bad Blood

There are lots of people in Taylor Swift‘s squad. Cindy officially joined when she starred in Taylor’s “Bad Blood” video as Headmistress. Other stars in the video included Lena Dunham, Karlie Kloss, Cara Delevingne, and many, many more.

13. Scores Balmain Campaign, 2016
