The clothes on the runway are obviously the big draw of Couture Week, but they aren’t the only place to look for wardrobe inspiration. As per usual, the street style game was on point at the couture shows. The editors, bloggers and style stars were out in full force in their dreamiest looks. The street style looks from the ready-to-wear shows are always enviable, but Couture Week takes it even further. If you’re about to see handcrafted dresses that costs thousands go down the runway, you’re going to be compelled to elevate your wardrobe, right?
Check out some of the must-see looks from the Fall 2016 couture shows:
1. The White Dress with Black T-Shirt and Cropped Jeans
You know how everyone says that jeans and t-shirts go with everything? This look proves that is no exaggeration. Layer an open dress on top of your tee and cropped jeans, and your basic outfit isn’t so basic anymore. Hands up if you can see Carrie Bradshaw rocking something like this?
2. The Plaid Top and Patterned Bag
Susie Bubble is a master at mixing prints. Here, she works a trendy cold shoulder plaid top with a printed bag and two-toned slides. The denim bottoms help balance out the look.
3. The Coordating Mother-Daughter Pink Outfits
Forget fashion tribe style, mother-daughter style is where it is at. Natalia Vodianova and her daughter look adorable in their pink dresses. Surprisingly, Natalia is the one wearing the more ethereal princess look, while her daughter opted for a dark midi dress.
4. The Matching Blue Looks
If you’re going to be attending the shows with someone, it is a rule that you have to coordinate. These baby blue outfits will make anyone a fan of pastels. Even if only wear black, you have to admit that you’d love to wrap yourself up in that soft blue coat.
5. The One Easy Styling Trick
If you live in maxi dresses in the summer, there comes a point when you get a bit bored of them. When that time comes, copy the styling tricks here and wear your dress with a coordinating bandana. A pair of metallic boots also helps to keep things interesting.
6. The Sheer Coat With Printed Floral Skirt
Ulyana Sergeenko is a street style favorite for a reason. Here, she is rocking one of her own designs. If there ever was a coat made for a dramatic street style photo, this sheer one with exaggerated sleeves is it.
7. The Not-So-Basic Black Jacket and Cropped Jeans
This is why we can always count on Olivia Palermo for style inspiration. Olivia elevates basic black thanks to a mix of different fabrics, textures and proportions.
8. The Double Bag
Why is it when we carry multiple bags it never quite looks this chic? Mind you, how many of us would have thought to coordinate one bag with our top and the other purse with our trousers, then throw a pair of printed shoes into the mix?
9. The New Top Silhouette
The lace-up top and off-the-shoulder shirt may be the biggest looks of summer, but Chiara Ferragni might have just made the open-front top the new must-have style for the upcoming season thanks to this chic black and gray look.
10. The Floral Blazer with Striped Top and Trousers
It’s not enough to have Olivia on the list only once. This look has to be included for the expert mixing of patterns. This makes you want to forget all the rules you know about mixing prints. Obsessed.
