Don’t worry, you didn’t miss those Emmys. That’s next week. The Creative Arts Emmys were last night, and they gave us a glimpse of what we can expect at the main event. And based on what we saw on the red carpet, I am even more excited for the Emmys. There was the necessary amount of sparkle and black dresses, but there was plenty of variety–and color. There was fringe, crop tops, embellishment and a fashion risk, of course. This was not a parade of the same strapless dress in different colors.
Check out some of the best looks from the Creative Arts Emmys that will whet your style appetite:
Heidi Klum managed to stop dancing in her blue fringed gown for a few moments, so they could take her picture. *PROJECT RUNWAY SPOILER*: The dress is actually designed by contestant Sean Kelly.
2. Ana Golja
Ana Golja’s black gown had an unexpected knee cutout. I don’t think we’ve seen that on a dress before.
3. Nikki Reed
I thought that Nikki Reed had added some edge to her gown with zipper embellishment, but that is actually a cutout trim. Sexy!
4. Sarah Rafferty
Can you count all of the different types of embellishment on Sarah Rafferty‘s illusion gown? One, two, three…
5. Troian BellisarioI wonder if Troian Bellisario used Black Swan as the inspiration for her black lace bodice and tulle skirt?
6. Bellamy Young
We need a new color name for Bellamy Young‘s pleated, metallic dress. Burnished gold? Dragon egg?
7. Uzo Aduba
The Orange Is The New Black star kept things simple with a minimalist white gown, but looked gorgeous.
8. Kate Mara
Kate Mara took a fashion risk with a layered yellow and white dress. Regardless of whether the under layer is made out of a mattress pad, I think she pulled it off.
9. Cat Deeley
The crop tops keep on coming. Cat Deeley opted for elegant floral printed separates. I think my favorite part is the contrasting lining on the skirt.
Laverne Cox added some necessary sparkle to the red carpet with this shimmery strapless dress.
