Fashion icon Daphne Guiness is in hot water after making some pretty scathing statements about Victoria Beckham in an interview she did for friend (frenemy?) Camilla Long. Apparently Daphne had this to say of Posh:

“[She is] an ugly pig! Downbeat, miserable and awful. Of course she’s going to make money – she’s backed by Simon Fuller. I don’t have anyone! She annoys the shit out of me.”

Guiness played taker-backer with the sentiment, however, saying her words were taken out of context and that she was merely using Victoria as an example of someone who has traveled a different route professionally. I guess the ugly pig route? She explained:

“I feel absolutely miserable about it all. I would never call anyone a name, and definitely not her. You wouldn’t believe how nice she is in reality. She’s a great mum too – you can see from the photos how much those boys love her.”

We imagine Daphne Guinness has enough media training not to go around calling high profile celebrities “ugly pigs” (to journalists, no less) but it’s pretty hard to imagine a description like “miserable and awful” was pulled from the ether.

What do you think? Did Daphne give an interview to a friend who needed a little clarification as to what was on/off the record or is this just another case of Famous Person Revisionist History?
