After decades of being a style icon to cute, neurotic, Man Repeller types everywhere for the clothes she wore in Annie Hall and beyond, Diane Keaton has finally landed a major fashion campaign. It’s about time!
The campaign is for Chico’s, clothier to fun moms everywhere, and the pictures that have been released so far show Keaton frolicking about while looking awesome for any age, but certainly for 65. I realize there was probably quite a bit of Photoshop involved, because God forbid a 65-year-old woman should have any laugh lines, but I’ll take it.
“Her spontaneity, her wonderful wit and her remarkable eye for individual style are the perfect complements to our brand,” Chico’s rep Cinny Murray told WWD of the campaign, the brand’s first to feature a celebrity endorser. For her part, Keaton was enthused and somewhat amused. “This is my first [fashion campaign]. I love clothes. Can’t you tell?” she told WWD. Indeed.
