Dolce and Gabbana‘s spring 2014 menswear collection features lots of heroic imagery taken from ancient Greek art and architecture. But one thing they forgot to feature was the iconic male nude, which might explain why one passionate Grecophile decided to go streaking across their runway this past weekend.
According to The Telegraph, everything seemed like business as usual as the famed design duo celebrated the fact that they’re not in prison right now by unveiling their latest collection at Milan fashion week. But things got exciting when, sensing there was not nearly enough naked man butt to make for an authentic Greek art experience, the Hellenistic purist removed everything but his socks and sensible running sneakers and took off onto the runway. Just look at that contrapposto!
The streaker, who is rumored (assumed) to be German, was quickly removed, despite the fact that he’d just made their boring fashion show a thousand times Greek-er and better, and Dolce and Gabbana have denied any involvement with the incident. Some thanks he gets for distracting everyone from their refusal to pay rich people taxes! As of now, not much is known about the streaker’s identity and motivations, but if you want to get really immature with me for a minute, let’s pretend that this out-of-context quote from Domenico and Stefano is about their naked visitor:
“We feel shocked about what’s happened. But we are relaxed too because we know that we are innocent. We resist, and I feel strong.”
