Jennifer Lawrence isn’t the only fashionable Hunger Games star. Elizabeth Banks has great taste too. However, sometimes her style isn’t appreciated as much just because she is not Katniss Everdeen. It is time that changed. Elizabeth loves a dramatic red carpet look. She isn’t afraid to take fashion risks or wear the showpiece gowns that we see in fashion editorials but don’t often see on the red carpet.
Here are some of Elizabeth Banks’ best red carpet looks:
We see a lot of beading on the red carpet, but when have you ever seen a dress that has embellishment the size of jawbreakers? This definitely isn’t your average LBD. The fabric and embellishment makes the dress look like armor or scales, which is actually very cool.
The Hunger Games premieres always have plenty of fashion. Elizabeth’s long-sleeved dress has an uncomplicated silhouette but the multicolored stripes make it a head-turner. She wisely balanced the bold dress by keeping her hair and makeup simple.
Elizabeth is a master of wearing a complicated look. Her clothes never overwhelm her. This white dress with turquoise strap, split blue peplum and orange trim could have been too much, but she makes it work. The orange straps on the shoes tie everything together perfectly.
It is always interesting when someone skips the gown for a different silhouette. Elizabeth left the dresses to her costars here and went with a strapless top and coordinating trousers. Despite the embellishment, this manages to look effortless and like it could actually be comfortable.
Polka dots mixed with blue feathers, sheer fabric and a visible waistband sounds like waaaay too much, but it works. Elizabeth even managed to pull it off with a contrasting yellow gold clutch. Bravo.

We have seen Elizabeth in a number of ornament gowns, but she also knows the power of simplicity. This orange dress is all about the pleated and embellishment on the bodice. You do not need a gigantic train or to pair it with heavy makeup. It barely needs any styling details at all, and that’s how Elizabeth wore it.
Even in throwback photos, Elizabeth knew how to work it on the red carpet. Instead of wearing a silver pair of heels to coordinate with her dress, she opted for a shimmery white pair with bow accents.
Elizabeth isn’t afraid of drama and this look shows she definitely isn’t afraid of color. Canary yellow isn’t a color we see often on the red carpet, especially a canary yellow gown with sparkles. Elizabeth makes you want more. The open back is a nice counterpoint to the rest of the dress.
If you saw this fabric, you would probably bypass it in favor of a traditional floral or stripe. It is the sort of thing that you would think is better suited to a beach towel rather than an elegant dress. Then you see it on Elizabeth and you cannot believe how great it looks.
Now this is the type of look you want to wear when you are one of the stars of a major film franchise. Elizabeth’s red patterned dress has drama and it is something we haven’t seen on the carpet a thousand times. It was very clever the way she brought out the bronze tone on the inside of the skirt with her shoes.
