The Emmys are always a favorite for red carpet fashion. There is always plenty of glamour, plus a few surprises. The 2016 Emmys did not disappoint. Celebrities definitely brought the glamour to the red carpet. There were also a number of surprises. However, some of them turned heads for the wrong reasons.
Take a look at the best and worst-dressed celebs at the 2016 Emmy Awards:
1. Emilia Clarke
This is how you do a nude dress right. This dress is close to Emilia Clarke’s skin tone, but there is just enough of a difference so it doesn’t look like she is walking the carpet naked. Can we also take a second to appreciate the flawless fit of the gown?
2. Priyanka Chopra
This red dress is one of the reasons that Priyanka Chopra has become a fashion favorite for many of us. Whether she was standing still or twirling, this dress was spectacular. Sometimes it is risky wearing a red dress on the red carpet, but Priyanka did not blend in at all.
3. Kerry Washington
Leave it to Kerry Washington to have another maternity style moment at the Emmys. Kerry has once again made everyone reconsider maternity dressing. This black dress with cutouts is an amazing look for her now, but she would also have slayed in it if she wasn’t pregnant.
4. Claire Danes
Claire Danes looked like the real-life version of the Emmys statue, and we mean that in the most complimentary way. This gown is the definition of dazzling. She also styled it just right with the minimal accessories, bronzed skin and easy hair.
5. Emmy Rossum
Emmy Rossum is single-handedly showing that you can wear white after Labor Day and that you can wear white on the red carpet without looking like a bride. Her LWD dress is sexy, chic and simply stunning.
6. Sophie Turner
This is one of the first major red carpets that Sophie Turner has walked with her blonde locks and she couldn’t have picked a better red carpet look. Everything from her loose curls to the lace hem of her dress is great. This dress is sheer but it’s not too sheer.
7. Laverne Cox
Laverne Cox is another one who went for gold at the Emmys. What else is there to really say about this look besides the fact that she slayed it again? There really isn’t a dress that Laverne cannot wear. And just take a look at those waves.
1. Amy Poehler
Amy Poehler deserves so much better than this dress. A long-sleeved gown can be very chic, but this one is too old for her. Someone double Amy’s age should be wearing this.
2. Natasha Lyonne
We’ve seen a lot of cape dresses on the red carpet that have looked amazing. Sadly, Natasha Lyonne’s just missed the mark. The proportions aren’t quite right. Furthermore, it would have been improved if the dress was all one color.
3. Emily Ratajkowski
This is a beautiful dress, but there is something about that neckline that is just throwing the rest of it off. It’s not doing the best things for Emily Ratajkowski’s boobs. It’s a shame because you know that she has an amazing body under there. The dress should highlight that in the chest area more.
4. Anna Chlumsky
Poor Anna Chlumsky. This looks like two pieces of fabric that are from separate dresses. They feel disjointed and the look somehow feels too casual despite it having a train. This fabric wouldn’t have done Anna too many favors in any silhouette, but this one is particularly confusing.
5. Maisie Williams
Maisie Williams’s dress is cute, but it is the head-to-toe look that sends it in the wrong direction. Right now, it has a prom vibe instead of a red carpet one. A sleeker hairdo or some retro waves would have completely changed this.
