Hurricane Sandy did not stop the Country Music Awards from happening last night in Nashville, TN. All of country music’s darlings came out for the big event that pretty much ended up being a toast to Blake Shelton who won both Entertainer of the Year and Male Vocalist of the Year (his third consecutive win in this category.) Apparently, Shelton does have time for other endeavors outside of being a judge on The Voice.
Another big winner of the night was Miranda Lambert who scored Female Vocalist of the Year (beating out more household names like Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson and Martina McBride), as well as Song of the Year for “Over You,” which she performed with, are you ready? Blake Shelton!
After all the performances, wins and losses, everyone’s favorite pot-smoking country singer, Willie Nelson was awarded the CMA’s very first lifetime achievement award along with one of those fancy all-star tributes to his iconic career — and equally iconic braids.
Fashion wise, things were all over the place, but the definite winner in that category went to Taylor Swift. However, they weren’t giving out honors for that last night, but if they were, she would have would gone home with multiple arms full of awards.
