Have you ever fantasized about what it might be like to drift off to sleep in the late Gianni Versace‘s diamond-encrusted bed as the sweet shush of the grotto’s waterfall and bands of golden servant-angels sang you a sweet, soothing song? Or what it’s like to take a dip in the gold-adorned swimming pool as a harem of willowy androgynes tends to your every whim?

That fantasy may soon be a reality for anyone willing/able to pony up the cash, as a large hotel group has just purchased Versace’s Miami mansion and plans to turn it into a luxury hotel. According to The Telegraph UK, the mansion was just purchased for a cool $41.5 million by VM South Beach LLC.—which is owned by the same family of oligarchs who own Jordache—as part of a bankruptcy proceeding by its current owner. (The bigger they are…) The group plans to turn it into a fancy pants hotel while retaining most or all of its original details:

The Mediterranean-style mansion has 10 bedrooms, 11 bathrooms and a swimming pool with 24-carat gold decoration…Joe Nakash, a spokesman for the [hotel group] family, said: “Everything will stay as it is. We’d like the public to use it, so we’re going to create a hotel that will be consolidated with the Victor [the hotel next door]. We’re going to use the name Versace after we receive the okay from the family,

As you probably know, Versace was gunned down on the steps of this very house in 1997 by serial killer Andrew Cunanan. Next up on the hotel group’s roster: the Brentwood, CA home where Marilyn Monroe overdosed on barbiturates and the LA mansion where Sharon Tate was stabbed by the Manson family. History is so glamorous!
