We’re gearing up for Sunday night’s Golden Globe Awards, hosted by superhero best friends Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. I’ll be on hand to live blog the red carpet (who hung out with me Wednesday for the People’s Choice Awards?), and we’ll be bringing you updates as the night progresses. Uncomfortable musical numbers? More representation of white ladies winning everything? Time will tell!
While Fey and Poehler haven’t always had the best luck on the red carpet, they’ve significantly upped their game in recent years. Let’s take a look at their best red carpet looks from the last year, and take bets on what they’ll show up in on Sunday night.
Let’s start with Fey’s Oscar de la Renta at the SAG Awards.
The gown itself could border on beautiful but boring, but Fey’s hair, clutch, and belt helped keep things interesting.
I loved Fey’s L’Wren Scott and Poehler’s Stella McCartney while hosting the Golden Globes last year. Fey brought it a bit more with the glam factor, but Poehler’s hair and sophisticated dress kept things more interesting than just say, “pretty.”
Here’s Fey arriving at the GG’s:
Poehler made a somewhat dowdy Tadashi Shoji look fresh and new for the Time 100 Gala–I’m thinking its the springy hair cut and bright nails.
My favorite Poehler look combines everything I love: tomboy style, sparkles, sex appeal, and early 2000’s era jewelry choice.
Her Stella McCartney outfit on the red carpet at last year’s Golden Globes is all kinds of hot, and I will defend that Genie In A Bottle Era-Christina Aguilera necklace with my life. I just wish that her brows were a little bolder, but we can’t have everything.
And for my favorite Fey look of 2013:
Her Narciso Rodriguez dress for the Emmy’s was the most perfect shade of blue. Her hair and makeup were perfect, and somehow she made me love a halter dress. Sold.
