Every time Kanye West makes a media appearance, he says weirder stuff than he did the last time. Recently, West stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live and discussed the challenges of his own outrageous genius–and this week West displayed even less self-awareness on Los Angeles’ Power 106 radio station, when discussing his 2009 Louis Vuitton collaboration and the likelihood of working with the brand again.
It won’t happen, he claims. Why’s that?
“If I had the opportunity to design for Louis Vuitton now, I wouldn’t. Because the prices [are] just too extreme. And I don’t want to use my message to have kids saving up that much, you know, to be part of what the ideas are. You know, that’s the problem to me with luxury.”
The obvious thing to say here is that if Kanye West had “the opportunity to design for Louis Vuitton now,” he wouldn’t because of this.
Moreover, it appears that West has forgotten what he charged for his own label’s shoes.
Oh, and he also said this:
“I’m like, the most influential person of fashion in the last ten years.”
