There was a lot of fashion at the 2018 Met Gala. Countless designers were name-checked on the red carpet including H&M. A handful of celebrities (Olivia Munn, Lili Reinhart, Jasmine Sanders, Kiersey Clemons, Alek Wek) wore custom gowns from the Swedish label and now we get the chance to get dresses inspired by the one-of-a-kind pieces with the brand’s Gala collection.
H&M made the announcement of its Gala collection the day after the “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination” Met Gala. The exclusive collection of dresses captures the mood of the looks as opposed to being more obvious reproductions. Best of all, as this is H&M the prices don’t cost thousands like it would to get a Met Gala dress. The prices range from just $99 to $500.
The collection includes the Sequined Mesh Dress ($99), which features sequined fringing and a shorter black dress under the longer fringed style; the Draped Halterneck Dress ($249), a short silver dress style draped chain mail, raw hems and contrasting straps; the Long Sequined Dress ($199), a silver dress with maxi skirt and long sleeves; and the Short Sparkly-Stone Dress ($500), a knee-length dress embellished with fringing on the entire body with an asymmetrical hem. The dresses are available in sizes 0 to 10 save for the sequined fringed style which is available in XS-S and M-L sizes.
If you want to get your own heavenly Met Gala creation, you can shop the dresses exclusively on the H&M website. If you’re looking for something else, note that the gala collection also features a range of other looks that are great for more formal occasions including more dresses, jumpsuits, suit, shoes and accessories.
One you have the dress, all that’s missing is some Pat McGrath x Met Gala makeup.
