Troubled designer John Galliano won’t be teaching at Parsons after all–The New School of Design in New York City has canceled its upcoming four-day workshop with the former Dior creative director.
While the decision to host Galliano caused plenty of controversy, the school isn’t saying exactly why they’ve cancelled the workshop. Here’s what we know:
Parsons said in a statement that his appearance was to include “a candid discussion about the connection between his professional work and his actions in the world at large.” It said it canceled the workshop after the two sides couldn’t reach consensus on the conditions of the conversation.
A spokesman for Galliano didn’t immediately return a request for comment Wednesday.
Galliano’s first steps toward a comeback occurred in January, when he took up residency at Oscar de la Renta’s New York studio.
