When you’re a Duchess, everybody wants a little piece of you. So when Kate Middleton was spotted wearing what looked like a fur-lined jacket, the International Fur Trade Association jumped on the chance to post a picture of her on their website, describing her sartorial choice as “a classy fur-lined coat.”

It didn’t take long for a bunch of naked women PETA to catch word of the Duchess’ alleged slip-up, and ask the IFTA to take the image down.

But it turned out that everyone was the fool —  statement from Middleton’s office made clear that Kate did not, and would not, wear fur:

Her Royal Highness was not wearing fur. The coat was not lined with fur. We therefore insist that you remove the photo from your social media page and issue an immediate public retraction of your claim.

…To state that the Duchess is wearing fur is not only false but offensive…to portray the new Duchess wearing something so blatantly cruel and contrary to her country’s values is insulting.
