Kate Middleton isn’t exactly known for her experimental and fashion-forward footwear, but she’ll nevertheless be judging a shoe design competition in Leicester, England, during a visit on March 8. The Duchess will examine the designs of six students from the footwear design program at De Montfort University, and select her favorite. Here are some of the designers’ ideas:

“I wanted to make a cool and sexy shoe for a formal occasion,” said [Sam] Sawkill.

Summer Spencer was inspired by Kate and husband William’s coat of arms, with its tartan reflecting the couple’s time in college in Scotland, while Tabitha Duffield used daisies and pink leather in her design. Becka Hunt said she was inspired by 19th-century fashions, as well as Kate’s engagement ring and overall style.

Yes, of course…daisies and pink leather. That certainly reflects the Duchess’ aesthetic.
