After Kate Middleton got married, her dress was quickly put on display in Buckingham Palace. You might recall that the Queen herself called the display “horrible,” but apparently hundreds of thousands of visitors didn’t care much about her opinion: the exhibit brought in an estimated 600,000 people, raising just over $15 million.

Where is that money going, you ask? To charity, or something lovely like that?

Not really. In fact, most of that cash money is going straight back into the machine that raised it. According to the U.K.’s Telegraph:

Most of the money raised will go to the Royal Collection, which maintains the thousands of paintings and other treasures at the Royal palaces, but a slice of the money will go to charity, in accordance with the wishes of the Duchess.
