When we hear the word “cutout,” we typically think of silly dresses that reveal awkward parts of your cleavage or all of your torso. And yet, every once in a while, a dress with cutouts somehow manages to be absolutely amazing. Case in point: the metallic masterpiece that actress, singer and overall wildly accomplished 20-year-old Keke Palmer wore to the 2014 BET Awards last night. It. Is. Awesome.
Palmer wore a bold Alon Livné design from the designer’s Spring 2014 collection that looked absolutely stunning on her. Part of why the dress was so excellent is its fit, which was perfect on her figure, as well as the materials it was constructed of. Yes, it is a lot of thigh, but it actually winds up looking pretty awesome rather than ridiculous. Plus, it is a totally different, interesting way of showing skin that doesn’t involve a ton of mesh.
She paired the dress with white Saint Laurent heels, then accessorized with some pretty JLANI jewelry. The simplicity of how the look is styled is what makes it a win, as bright colored shoes or strappy heels would have been over-the-top. I also am a big fan of her hair and makeup:
A barely glossy lip, fresh skin and black liner were the perfect choices for such an intense frock. (Just look at how shiny it is!) Slicked back hair without much product in it was also great because it allows the viewer to focus on her gorgeous face and dress. This whole look was a total win, so high five and serious applause to Keke Palmer! Now only she had gotten a hold of Pharrell’s ear before he wore those Uggs that evening…
