Kelly Osbourne has quit Fashion Police following a week of controversy after the comments fellow co-host Giuliana Rancic made about Zendaya‘s dreadlocks on last Monday’s Fashion Police Oscars special show. Giuliana came under fire after she said that Zendaya’s dreadlocks probably “smelled of patchouli oil or weed.” Zendaya responded with a brilliant statement about Giuliana’s “disrespectful” comments and many celebs spoke out to support her.
Earlier in the week, Kelly threatened to quit the show if the problem was not resolved. In a series of tweets she also explained that Zendaya was a friends of hers and that she would not be “dragged into the situation.” Giuliana tweeted an apology to Zendaya and made a heartfelt on-air apology during a news broadcast. Zendaya accepted her apology. It looks like Kelly still wants nothing to do with the situation because People reported that E! announced today that Kelly had left the show. E! made the following announcement:
“Kelly Osbourne is departing E!s Fashion Police to pursue other opportunities. We would like to thank her for her many contributions to the series over the past five years, during which time the show became a hit with viewers.”
Fashion Police will return on Friday, March 30. There have yet to be any announcements whether they will look for a replacement for Kelly.
