I’m not really sure when Kendall and Kylie Jenner sleep, because it feels like they’ve been coming out with new fashion and beauty collections and campaigns every day since the beginning of last year. I’ve sort of come to believe that they sleep with their eyes open, which is why they seem to have the same face in every single Instagram selfie. But I digress. We’re not here to break down the classic Jenner pout. We’re here to talk about the launch of their brand, Kendall + Kylie‘s, Spring 2016 collection. Because, yes, it’s finally happening.
The fact that a bespoke Kendall + Kylie brand is even happening is relatively old news—the Instagram for the brand launched months ago, but for a long time, the site only sold a cropped tank and a t-shirt. It’s since expanded, but not much past the tank top/athleisure side of fashion. According to a recent report in WWD, though, that’s about to change: on February 8, Kendall and Kylie are throwing a party in New York City to celebrate the launch of a full-on Spring collection, just in time for New York Fashion Week.
The report states that the collection will finally make a departure from its e-commerce home, and will be sold at high-end retailers like Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Shopbop, Lord & Taylor, and Revolve. We’re used to seeing Kendall and Kylie’s names plastering price tags at Topshop and PacSun, but it’ll be interesting to see how they hold up to major department store wares.
According to WWD,
“It’s the first time the sisters…have put their stamp on a collection that reflects their current tastes and styles they actually wear. The line combines Kendall’s more classic, feminine style and Kylie’s more edgy streetwear, taken in a palette of mostly black and white with pale pink and blue accents.”
Personally, I’m excited to see how each girl’s personal style translates into a coherent collection. In my mind, classic, feminine pieces don’t really mix with edgy streetwear—I tend to favor one over the other on any given day. That said, the Jenner’s have a way of successfully breaking style rules on the regular, so we should be in for a real treat.
The excitement is palpable, even among the retailers set to carry the brand. Nordstrom.com’s homepage features a massive ad informing shoppers that the Kendall + Kylie collection (kollection? Sorry.) will be available come February 1:
The ad features the following quotes from Kendall and Kylie:
“‘This line is a true reflection of our evolving love for fashion.’ -Kendall Jenner
‘There’s a lot of range—outfits you can wear every day, nighttime looks and some surprise statement pieces.’ -Kylie Jenner”
If the surprise pieces are anything like, well, any street style piece Kendall has ever worn, then I’m here for it.
The Kendall + Kylie collection launch party will take place in NYC on February 8, and the collection will launch online and in select stores on February 1!
