Plenty of people want to grow up to be wedding planners, but Kim Kardashian has a potential future in bachelorette party planning. She’s had a fair amount of practice, and from the latest pictures it looks like she’s getting really good at it.
In 2011, Kim Kardashian was getting ready for her wedding to basketball player Kris Humphries when she staged a bog-standard bachelorette party at Tao in Las Vegas. Kim wore a nude mini dress with a giant boob window, 200 pounds of hair extensions, and a hot pink crown with a matching satin “Bachelorette” sash. Ugh. The sash is what kills me.
But last night in Paris, Kim tried again. This time she wore a high-necked, high-fashion suit of armor crusted in pearls by Oliver Rousteing for Balmain. Her hair was choppier and a smidge shorter, and her friends wore a more
avant garde trendy set of fashion styles including jumpsuits, leather pants, and crown braids.
OK, both bachelorette parties seemed to be pretty selfie-themed. Even at the Paris party, after dinner the main event seemed to be having someone drive the party to famous French landmarks for everyone to take their pictures in front of. First they took some at dinner, then in front of the pyramid at the Louvre, then in front of the Eiffel Tower with its lights on. (There’s no way Kim walked from the Louvre to the Eiffel Tower in those shoes.)
I have to say I am completely in love with Kim’s 2014 bachelorette party dress. It’s pearl-crusted, embroidered, and looks as heavy as a suit of armor. And unlike other pieces Kim has worn from this Balmain collection, this one looks like it fits her perfectly. She’s worn Balmain recently, but the pieces seemed off scale on her petite body, making us think they were runway pieces she was borrowing for the afternoon. This one she wears like she owns it. It fits her like it was made for her, and it may well have been.
