While Lindsay Lohan‘s personal life is typically what makes the news, today it is her fashion choices. Namely, the decision to wear a dress that I imagine Scary Spice would have loved (or perhaps Ginger if it came in ruby red).
Lindsay picked a metallic green and blue dress by Julien Macdonald that featured an open neckline and a transparent panel over her boobs (yes, illusion dresses are still a thing) to Gabrielle’s Gala held at Old Billingsgate Market in London. The hemline–which was very, very high and I kind of love that–is black, so as RCFA mentioned, I wish she had kept the black belt the original runway look had. It would have added a little definition and focus to the dress, which had a somewhat pretty but busy pattern. But while I enjoy the length and color, I still absolutely hate the illusion panel thing; putting a sheath of nude fabric over your breasts never looks great, it just looks creepy.
If you’re going to show off sideboob, do so. I personally am a big ol’ fan of sideboob in nearly all its forms! Just do not put a bunch of wrinkly pantyhose material overtop. Case in point: Mischa Barton‘s awkward Têca by Helô Rocha gown. It is so pretty and flowing and fun…except then there is this enormous rectangle of stocking-covered cleavage. Once in a while, doing a sheer panel looks decent, but those examples are few and far between.
Beauty-wise, Lindsay went for a long, straightened style for her hair, which added to the mermaid feel of this overall look. The makeup was pretty simple, just a bit of eyeshadow and lip color plus a ton of bronzer as per usual. For Lindsay, this was a pretty decent look, actually.
Oh, and as a side note, could somebody please explain to me why Lindsay is posing like this?
