Madonna by Terry Richardson for Harper's Bazaar

Madonna has spent the past thirty years courting controversy and making headlines and occasionally even challenging people to rethink what they believe about human sexuality (on a good day). The last few years, though, have been pretty tame for the superstar–so tame, in fact, that she’s taken to flashing audiences, wearing sparkly grills, posting selfies to Instagram and getting banned from movie theater chains… for texting.

Luckily, celebrities have a permanent ally when the controversy fails to generate the way it used to: Terry Richardson. The photographer can create racy stuff from the ether using nothing but harsh light and an unadorned wall! Miley Cyrus, for example, recently worked with Richardson to inspire several hundred more blog posts than anyone needed about Miley Cyrus by simply by wearing a racy onesie and inviting the world to deduce her pubic grooming habits.

And now Madonna. The Material Girl stars in a bondage (ish?) themed editorial in the latest issue of Harper’s Bazaar (the ‘Daring Issue’) which seems to scream off the page that SHE IS VERY EDGY. You know, because here’s her ass:

(A favorite angle of Richardson’s).

Oh! And here is her bountiful cleavage!

Madonna’s Harper’s Bazaar is on newsstands now. We’re sure the interview is extremely controversial and all that.
