You've seen the work of @sarahtannomakeup more than you may know — she's @ladygaga's personal makeup artist and a @marcbeauty Global Beauty Ambassador. For her #MJxVANS sneaker, she used materials found in her makeup kit to create this colorful mixed media creation. ? This isn’t just a regular collaboration between two designers. Vans and Marc Jacobs have designed sneakers, but they have then asked 17 different artists to customize a pair of kicks. The resulting shoes are unlike anything that you will see in the shops.
We reached out to 17 artists around the globe and asked them to customize a pair of Marc Jacobs x @Vans shoes featuring designs by @JulieVerhoeven. Stay tuned to view sneakers by @avanope, @bigandmilky, @sarahtannomakeup and more on our Instagram or come see them in real life this Friday (6.16.17) at 113 Prince Street, NYC or 4-26-14, Jingumae, Shibuyaku, Tokyo! Not in New York or Tokyo? Link in bio to win a pair of #MJxVANS and customize your own — for free! ?✍️
The artists featured in the collaboration include Lady Gaga’s personal makeup artist Sarah Tanno, oil painter Toru Kamei and multimedia artist Julie Verhoeven. And each artist has put their signature spin on the Marc Jacobs x Vans shoes using everything from pins to flowers to cool illustrations.
If you want to see the shoe art, they will be on display in New York on June 16 and in Tokyo. And if you don’t live in either one of the places, you can try and win one of 10 pairs of shoes created by Julie, or you can attempt to get your hands on one of the actual pairs from the photos. Just be aware that there are only 125 pairs of shoes in total so you know they’re going to go fast.
#ToruKamei is a Tokyo-based oil painter, specializing in botanical still life scenes. His exploration of gothic and surrealist themes have garnered a strong following in recent years. Toru chose to transform his #MJxVANS into works of art that would fit in with the flora of his paintings. Come purchase your own Marc Jacobs x @Vans shoes to customize this Friday (6.16.17) at 113 Prince Street, NYC or 4-26-14, Jingumae, Shibuyaku, Tokyo and view the artists shoes on display. ??
And if that doesn’t work, you can always grab your craft box and start decorating your own pair of Marc Jacobs x Vans.
