miley cyrus elle magazine cover

Damn, Miley Cyrus. Just when we thought her occasional red-carpet wins were utter flukes in a sea of hideous novelty garb, Miley Cyrus appears on the cover of Elle in a look that knocks our socks off. Really, we love everything about this.

Miley Cyrus announced the new cover herself via twitter last night.

“#ElleYeah @ELLEmagazine @MarcJacobsIntl I <3 MJ,” she wrote.

Miley Cyrus is the current face of Marc Jacobs, and this look comes from his Fall 2014 line. The muted grays and cool tones of this cover don’t exactly scream “May,” but somehow that just makes it cooler.

This cover is a timely reminder that Miley Cyrus really can pull off high fashion when she wants to. This look would be very difficult to pull off in real life, with the heavy fabric, all-over embellishment, and trippy head-to-toe pattern. But Miley carries it off and still looks exactly like herself. The minimal makeup and cool hair helps, as does the edgy styling. We like her black talon nails and the bracelet that looks like a giant gold nail wrapped around her wrist, but we really can’t take our eyes off the little rhinestone bow on her right wrist. (We’d inquire about the price, but this time we’re pretty sure we don’t even want to know.)

Looking at Miley Cyrus can’t help but make a person a little sad right now, considering last night’s tragic twitter breakdown over the loss of her favorite dog. But she looks so amazing here, we just wish we’d see more of this side of her and a little less of the tired, tongue-wagging shock artist. This side is way more interesting.
