Nicki Minaj by Steven Klein for American Vogue

Although Adele got the coveted cover spot, Nicki Minaj may steal the show in American Vogue‘s March issue: the rapper/alien sat for a striking portrait by Steven Klein after some beleaguered assistant spent an hour or two painstakingly painting her blue. Why? Doesn’t matter.

What we do learn, however, is that 29-year-old Minaj used to have a monthly shopping addiction to the tune of (wait for it) $50,000. Holy shit! She claims she blew it all on, “Giuseppe [Zanotti], Versace, YSL, and Fendi shoes. And I bought tons of [Louis] Vuitton bags. When you’re a young girl from Queens, you’re going to stock up on those bags.”

…”Still,” cautions Vogue, “Minaj is adamant that her legacy will not be one of a free-spending, know-nothing celebrity. She’s planning ‘an enormous foundation to nurture girls.'” As if that makes the $50k a month shopping habit any less ridiculous.
