Marie Claire editor and Project Runway judge Nina Garcia has a new book out, Nina Garcia’s Look Book: What to Wear for Every Occasion. She spoke briefly with our colleague Erin Carlson, editor of, about her bilingual aspirations.

“I speak Spanish to my son, who speaks back to me,” Garcia told Carlson. “I love Latinas!” She mentioned that she would love to do a Spanish-language edition of her book and pointed out that the illustrator of her book, Ruben Toledo, is Cuban-American. “I need to get back on the Twitter,” she said, adding that she would love to tweet in both English and Spanish.

Now on to other important subjects: what is Garcia planning to wear this fall? “I’m loving all the neutrals and ’90s minimalism and sleekness, the ladylike [look].” She is over “studded, grommeted, angry fashion.”
