The 2016 awards season kicked off last night with the People’s Choice Awards. It’s not like we have had to wait a long time for a good red carpet event. We just had the Star Wars: The Force Awakens promo tour, and the 2015 British Fashion Awards were just a hot minute ago. However, it is a new year, and the first red carpet helps set the tone for things to come. There were lots of great looks: see Kate Hudson and Lea Michele. However, there were some that had us scratching our heads. Hopefully, the worst-dressed celebs will correct their mistakes for the next big red carpet. After all, the Golden Globes are just around the corner.
Take a look at the best-dressed celebrities at the 2016 People’s Choice Awards:
1. Priyanka Chopra
Priyanka Chopra is new to awards season and she turned everyone’s head in this two-tone sparkly dress. It is a lot of look, but she pulled it off. This is someone we should be paying attention to.
2. Kate Hudson
Kate Hudson normally goes for a formfitting look or something with a bohemian twist. This strapless jumpsuit was a bit of a change for her, but it works. The fit is great and it has an effortless vibe that makes you want to copy it.
3. Lea Michele
Leave it to Lea Michele to find a cool twist on a lace dress. This is unique, sporty, and perfect for a more casual awards show like the People’s Choice Awards. Plus, the addition of the belt is unexpected, but works.
4. Meghan Trainor
How cute does Meghan Trainor look? This is a simple outfit but it isn’t boring. The gold stripes add enough interest to the dress and they accentuate the wrap design. This is how you make black pop on the red carpet.
5. Maddie Ziegler
You already know that Maddie Ziegler is not going to go through a awkward phase. This multicolored dress is fashionable, fun and age appropriate. Note the floral clutch. Keep an eye on Maddie because her red carpet looks are going to keep on being great.
6. Lucy Hale
There is a lot of detail going on in Lucy Hale’s dress. She has a ruffles, sheer panels, prints, cutouts, and a crisscross neckline. This could have overwhelmed her, but she styled it perfectly with the simple accessories and pulled back hair.
7. Alison Brie
Even though we said that we were over cutouts, that does not mean that we cannot still give credit when someone wears them well. Alison Brie looks gorgeous in this mint dress. It is a simple look, but everything works from head to toe.

1. Keke Palmer
First of all, let’s give Keke Palmer props that she was able to make it down the red carpet in that skirt. It does not look like it would be easy to walk in. It’s about 12 inches too long and very slim. It’s nice that she found a different version of a crop top, however the sleeves on this one are best suited for ice skating routines.
2. Shelley Hennig
The proportions and fabric choices are throwing Shelley Hennig’s look off here. If the jumpsuit used one fabric instead of the three, it would have been an improvement. Right now, it looks like the fabric around her middle could be a waist trainer. There also need to be less fabric in the middle section and more on top.
3. Sarah Rafferty
You can see where Sarah Rafferty was going with this look. Sadly, instead of a classic 1930’s shape, it looks more like she is wearing an elegant nightgown. This is a rare time when pockets work against the dress. Things would have looked less pajama-esque, if the dress was hemmed and taken in ever so slightly.
4. Kat Graham
Kat’s ensemble was so close to being great, but there was just one too many fabrics used. There is a lot going on, and the last sheer panel feels like an afterthought. If they hemmed the dress before the sheer panel, it would have been a lot better.
5. Frankie Grande
We are big fans of colored suits at The Gloss. We are looking at you John Boyega. However, Frankie Grande’s isn’t cutting it. The fit is wrong and it looks like he stole the fabric from an Elsa costume to make it.
