I’ll be honest and say I’m not that into sparkly dresses. My wardrobe consists mainly of black things, with a few dark blues thrown in there for good measure. Part of the reason I have tattoos is it makes it much easier to just throw on a black dress or t-shirt and go, no flashy, non-permanent accessories required. But I can’t make every Pick-Of-The-Week a black dress, and this sparkly little number caught my eye.

Described amusingly as “Empire Boardwalk dress,” this garment is obviously meant to reference the 1920s styles seen on HBO’s Boardwalk Empire. But with a relatively modest neckline, it’s clearly more Margaret Schroeder than Lucy Danziger. The muted colors keep the sequins from being too overpowering, and the tie-belt emphasizes your waist. I might even lift my “no sequins” rule to go to my local cute dress boutique and try it on.
