There is nothing wrong with grown women being inspired by a stylish baby. There is something wrong, if you start dressing in a baby’s clothes, though (ahem, Bethenny Frankel). There are a lot of celebs who are our secret style crushes, and with his perfectly put-together public appearances, Prince George is now on that list. It’s no surprise, given that his mom, Kate Middleton, is a very stylish
lady duchess. As cute as cherubic cheeked George is, we know that his crisp, classic outfits are no doubt the careful styling choices of his mother. George just turned one, and no baby has crafted a personal style at that age. Through Kate’s clever wardrobe choices and family coordinated photos (see above), Prince George has been crowned the most stylish baby since Harper Beckham. No offence North West.
Here are 7 Prince George outfits you can copy, all with clothes from the adult section:
Here’s George taking all of the attention away from his mom, Kate, in this cheery red cardigan and seer sucker shorts. I like how his shoes match Kate’s tweed jacket, though I don’t think that was his styling decision.
To get the look, layer a cherry red cardigan, like this J. Crew Featherweight Cashmere one, over a white polo.
These A.L.C. Camden Shorts have a subtle stripe to add some interest to a simple outfit.
Finish the look with a pair of Prince George’s signature navy shoes. These
ASOS Molly T-Bar Flat Shoes are the semi-adult way to wear buckled shoes.
Awww, poor George seems a little morose here. Perhaps he’s sad because he’s wearing a white sweater and both of his parents are in spill-concealing navy?
Pair navy shorts, like these Old Navy Twill Shorts, with your cardigan for a nautical look. There’s no need for stripes and captain’s hat.
For footwear, your most Prince George option is the Mary Jane flat. Try these UGG Kandace shoes.
George is walking! And he’s also wearing one of the hottest trends of summer 2014, overalls.
Since babies even know better than to go topless under their overalls, make like George and add a polo such as Tommy Hilfiger Heritage Tailored Fit Polo, under your dungarees.
Of course the look isn’t Prince George-like until you’ve slipped on a pair of navy shoes. Instead of wearing the same pair everyday, switch things up with these Urban Outfitters Over Dyed Mary Jane Shoes.
Prince George and his father, Prince William, are very well coordinated but not matchy-matchy. It’s a tough call to say who looks better. If you prefer George’s striped shirt, this Jolie By Edward Spiers Polo Shirt is a close match. It also works with Will’s plaid, if you ever have the opportunity for a coordinated photo-op. (One can dream.)
Keep things bright by pairing your striped polo with cobalt blue shorts. These
American Eagle Midi Shorts, bring out the darker blue in the shirt’s collar.
You know what I’m going to say. Throw on some navy shoes (OTBT Brea Flats) and then you’re good to go.
How could we have forgotten about George’s christening gown? It’s beautifully decorated, though I don’t know how comfortable is. Judging by George’s face, I think this was one of his least favorite looks.
All the ruffles, lace, frills, and trim are too OTT for real life. (Plus, the gown has a train that requires you to be carried at all times.) This Topshop Lace Shoulder Playsuit has much more mobility. It still has touches of the sweet lace and ruffle details but doesn’t look like a short wedding dress.
George is ready for the warmer weather in this all-white ensemble. And look, he even has new shoes, to mark the start of the summer.
George’s smocked sail boat sweater is adorable. To keep the look sophisticated, choose the smocked detail or the boat pattern. I like this Tommy Hilfiger Sail Boat Sweatshirt, it looks more comfortable than George’s collared shirt.
For more of a summer-at-sea look, try cutout sandals such as these American Apparel Beverly Sandals, instead of regular buckled shoes.
I commend Kate Middleton for continuously putting Prince George in all white ensembles. Clearly she knows how to keep her white pants white (and tops, and sweaters, and socks).
You can never have too many white cardigans. This Zara Ribbed Cardigan is light enough to wear on a cool summer evening.
Yes, there are many bad things that could happen if you wear white shorts, but these H&M Patterned Shorts are so cute, that they’re worth the risk. If Prince George can manage not to cover himself in ketchup, you should be fine too.
Finally, you need your classic Mary Janes. These Miista Alysa Mary Janes, work with the monochrome outfit, and they’re not navy.
