Last night, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones premiered in Berlin, Germany at the Sony Centre. Despite primarily choosing neutral tones for their red carpet wear, the cast — including stars like Kevin Zegers, Lily Collins, Robert Sheehan and many more — all looked super snazzy for the evening.
Now, while Collins may have confused us yesterday with her peculiar choice of pants, I think she pulled off something on this red carpet that I can only ever recall one Zoe Saldana doing: wearing a crop top outfit that I actually like. Now, I may not be the most fashionable human in the world/city/office/table I share with 6 people, but there are a few style items I really, really do not like: peplums, frosted lipstick and crop tops. It’s not as though I believe certain people “shouldn’t” wear them or that they are things that exclusively look good on runways — I just generally can’t stand ’em no matter who’s wearing them.
But Collins’ on this red carpet? Allow a friend of mine to say it for me:
Shall we get started?
Kevin Zegers looked amazing in a Dolce & Gabbana suit (shock fills you, I know). I also love how his hair is styled: polished, but without too much product.
While I usually find crop tops a little unpleasant, particularly on red carpets, I absolutely loved this outfit. Wearing a subtly boxy Paper London top, Halston Heritage skirt and Pluma Italia necklace, Collins looks absolutely stunning.
I’m also a huge fan of her makeup here. I think the muted mouth and very subtle peach blush were great choices to pair with a smoky — though not overwhelming — eye. In the event you want to do a look similar to this, check out our smoky eyes tutorial (starring our staff) from last week!
Jamie Campbell Bower looked super sharp in this Alexander McQueen suit.
Robert Sheehan’s velvet three-piece suit from Etro looked incredibly soft.
Just look at that adorable face! It’s almost like he has superpowers or something, hyuck hyuck…
I’m digging Heike Kloss‘ playful hair and wrap dress.
My favorite menswear of the night: Elyas M’Barek‘s beautifully fitting grey suit and oh-so-shiny shoes.
Isabella Vinet kept with the neutral theme, but added a gorgeous orange handbag to the mix.
I wish I could snag a better picture of Cassandra Clare‘s elegant knee-length dress, but hey, this photo is too cute to not post.
Lily Collins’ makeup is, once again, just so pretty.
The whole well-dressed cast!
