After her little quibble with Justin Bieber & Fan Co. via Twitter, I became a fan of Olivia Wilde, so I may be extra biased towards Wilde at the moment (I would make a “wild about Wilde” joke, but then you guys would presumably take this post, light it on fire and leave it upon my doorstep, as I would hope you’d do with puns of that nature). But even if I absolutely couldn’t stand her, I am 99% certain that I would still not be able to contain my excitement over the Clover Canyon dress she wore at yesterday’s Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s 2013 Installation Luncheon at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
Hi, Earth to Everything That’s Awesome About Earth: Olivia Wilde is connecting you with this outfit. This psychedelic dress plus the perfect green Jimmy Choo shoes and purse? A+ all around.
And look, it’s even beautifully patterned on the back!
I personally love printed dresses, so perhaps this is not everyone’s cup of tea. Or maybe you just have entirely different taste than I do, which is not only possible but probable because (A) we’re two different people, I can’t just be like you, Dad, and (B) I wear a lot of stupid printed cat shirts so it’s probably best to distance yourself from me anyway. BUT, I think this dress is just…wonderful. So wonderful.
I also love the her little bouffant hairdo; the slight teasing at her head’s crown isn’t at all fussy, yet still manages to work with the busy print.
Unfortunately, I do not feel the same regarding the makeup, which seemed to wash her out more than it complimented her look.
While the dress is from Clover Canyon’s Resort 2013 collection, you can still pop online to shop for their Fall 2013 items, many of which include beautiful prints in a variety of sleeve and hem lengths. Unsure of how to style bold items like these? Take a page from Wilde’s book and opt for a bag and shoes that coordinate with a single color from the print, then keep hair and makeup simple.
