The Pride of Britain Awards, per Wikipedia, is an annual event in the United Kingdom honouring (see what we did there?) British people who have acted bravely or extraordinarily in challenging situations. Which is to say, it’s a red carpet awards ceremony that isn’t just a bunch of spoiled famous people! …Weird.
…Also weird: apparently 1 out of every 3 famous British people are TV hosts/presenters. That’s like if Hollywood was one third Giuliana Rancics!
Here’s the 2013 Pride of Britain Awards red carpet…
Singer Lisa Stainsfield (you know the song) wore black lace and feathers.
We like black and we like feathers, so we’re not against it.
We kind of like Brooke Vincent‘s whole thing.
Baroness Doreen Lawrence is not amused.
Oritse Williams is a member of boy band JLS. He dresses like that because they sound like this.
Tess Daly wore Emilio Pucci.
The Wanted and their corresponding jawlines were there.
TV host Christine Bleakley wore elegant Roland Mouret.
Athlete Denise Lewis pulled off a peplum.
Stephen Hawking was there and he wore pink!
Are all red carpets black and white right now? Kate Nash wore lace.
We wish there were more dogs on red carpets–here’s Ashleigh Butler and her dog Pudsey.
The Saturdays in various eye-catching gowns.
Peter Andre was there–isn’t this for people who acted bravely in extraordinary circumstances? Does being on one season of a reality TV show with your glamour model wife qualify?
If you’ve got a few minutes, here’s a video we recommend. Highly.
Nicole Scherzinger wore velvet Amanda Wakeley.
This Ashley Roberts has some good ’90s lipstick.
Singer Kimberley Walsh went “70s glam” Halston Heritage.
Sarah Harding (of Girls Aloud) posed to death.
Katherine Jenkins in purple Lanvin.
Britain produces more TV presenters than any other place; Myleene Klass wore Very.
TV host Kimberly Wyatt wore Julian MacDonald.
Presenter (and actress/singer) Amanda Holden wore a classy black column.
TV presenter Louise Redknapp wore Matthew Williamson.
Pixie Lott looked like an actual pixie in Yuvna Kim.
