Giorgio Armani said he was making clothes for strong, modern women but–with a few striking exceptions–much of his Armani Prive collection was a retread of futurism ideas that have long gone stale and were looking pretty stale even last season. There were shiny fabrics throughout, leggings, inexplicable peplums and lots of techno fabric that looked like liquid gemstones, but nothing really exciting, and even less that was wearable. Thus, Mr. Armani did something unusual for him, but unfortunately not something altogether new.
