For such a secretive celebrity, Sia is very easy to pick out of a crowd. It’s hard not to spot the woman wearing a giant hat with a veil made out of hair. At last night’s Vanity Fair Academy Awards after party, Sia turned up looking a bit like a cross between Lady Gaga and Cousin It, minus Lady Gaga’s oven mitt gloves from last night, of course.

But while she kept her face covered for the red carpet, on which she certainly did not make the worst-dressed roundup, she is not married to the idea of Garbo-ing through the rest of her life, so she decided to mix things up a bit and finally reveal her face at the annual Oscars viewing party for the Elton John AIDS Foundation. After all, it’s a bit hard to view the Oscars through a giant wig.

Inside the party, Sia wore her blonde hair in a loose topknot, and she had a cool pop of orangey red lipstick. She looked happy and comfortable, worthy of a spot on our best-dressed list for sure.

Of course, Sia has always had a face. And she’s only been concealing it for the past year. Back when she was only sorta famous, she showed her face all the time. But she has been sticking to her “No Face” policy since “Chandelier” became the breakout song of the season, so it was surprising to see her without her giant wigs last night. If a celebrity wants to reveal her face without getting mobbed by attention, the Academy Awards is a pretty good place to do it.

Sia’s a big deal, but it’s tough to imagine the media going totally crazy for a glimpse of Sia’s forehead when she’s just 10 feet from Meryl Streep and Lupita Nyong’o. Maybe that’s the secret to being famous without being bothered: Always hang around in the vicinity of people who are more famous than you are. That way you get to pass relatively unbothered while everyone falls all over themselves to see what Jennifer Lawrence is up to.
